Today we read to the Camp Discovery students, most who were rising 3rd and 4th graders. Most of the kids were able to connect with the books the STA students had chosen, i.e., Natalia's two CD girls were very excited with the book, but on the other hand, Ariana's student was very disinterested with everything she had to offer. A different way to approach a read-aloud would be to have a second book on hand so that the student will show interest in the book that he/she picked. The most important part of a lesson that we learned is to keep the student engaged before going into the actual lesson.

  1. Great points on how you could of changed up the reading lesson from the original way you did it. I agree with the statement that the most important part of the lesson is to keep the student engaged!
